Amazon opens up its global logistics network to all businesses
Amazon has launched Amazon Supply Chain Services, opening its global logistics infrastructure—including freight, distribution, fulfillment, and parcel shipping—to all businesses, directly competing with UPS and FedEx across healthcare, automotive, manufacturing, and retail sectors. This strategic expansion monetizes Amazon's decades of supply chain expertise and proven operational scale, similar to how AWS transformed cloud computing, creating a significant new revenue stream while leveraging existing infrastructure. For IT organizations, this represents both a competitive threat to current logistics providers and a potential strategic partnership opportunity that could optimize supply chain operations and reduce total cost of ownership.

The new service, called Amazon Supply Chain Services, pits the e-commerce giant directly against UPS and FedEx.
