Microsoft 365 subscribers set to lose up to 4TB of OneDrive storage

Microsoft is cutting shared OneDrive storage for Microsoft 365 Family and Premium plans from a combined 6TB to 2TB, and for Pro plans to 5TB, which will force many organizations and households to either reduce data usage, pay for additional storage, or accept disruption at renewal. For IT leaders, the change is another reminder that cloud-service economics can shift unilaterally, making storage governance, data lifecycle management, and vendor risk planning essential to avoid surprise cost increases and user backlash. Existing subscribers will see the new limits at renewal on or after May 2, 2027, so teams have a window to assess exposure and prepare communications.
