Once: Cache CLI Commands
This article describes a lightweight CLI utility that caches the stdout of repeated commands for a configurable time, reducing redundant execution of expensive or sensitive operations such as secret retrieval from tools like 1Password. For CIOs and technology leaders, the business value is faster developer workflows, fewer authentication prompts, and lower friction in automation, while the strategic implication is that small infrastructure tools can materially improve productivity and user experience without adding significant platform complexity. IT organizations should note the security and governance tradeoffs: cache scope, tenant separation, and time-bound retention must be managed carefully to avoid exposing sensitive data or creating inconsistent operational behavior.
