YouTube just unlocked free picture-in-picture mode for everyone worldwide
YouTube has made picture-in-picture (PiP) mode free globally for all users on Android and iOS, removing a premium paywall feature that was previously exclusive to paid subscribers. This democratization of productivity features signals a broader industry trend toward embedding multitasking capabilities into mainstream applications, which IT leaders should recognize as raising user expectations for similar functionality across enterprise tools and platforms. Organizations should assess how this competitive feature parity in consumer applications may influence employee demands for enhanced productivity and collaboration features in corporate software.
There have been a lot of great features introduced to YouTube since its release. And while background playback and offline downloads are among my personal favorites, being able to watch videos in picture-in-picture mode is likely to be another one that sits at the top of the list.
