EDG C++ Compiler is open source

The open-sourcing of the EDG C/C++ compiler front end gives enterprises access to a highly compatible, configurable compiler technology that has historically been embedded in commercial products. For CIOs and technology leaders, this can reduce vendor lock-in, improve portability and source-compatibility across toolchains, and create new options for custom development, code transformation, and modernization efforts—but it also shifts responsibility for integration, governance, and long-term support to the IT organization.
