Halfspace experimental IDE for solid modeling with distance fields
This article introduces Halfspace, an experimental IDE for solid modeling built on distance fields and the Fidget geometry kernel, with a workflow aimed at making low-level geometry more inspectable, incremental, and easier to debug. For CIOs and technology leaders, the business implication is that next-generation CAD/CAM and fabrication tools may become more programmable and reliable by surfacing underlying mathematical representations, which could improve model quality, reduce defects, and accelerate iteration for teams building physical products. Strategically, it signals a shift toward software-defined geometry tooling that may eventually enable smaller teams to own more of the modeling stack, though the product is still experimental and not production-ready.
