A recent Windows 11 update is causing some virtual desktops—especially Azure Virtual Desktop environments using FSLogix—to boot to a black screen after sign-in, forcing users to manually start Explorer and creating avoidable productivity and support burden. For CIOs and IT leaders, this is another reminder that update cadence and validation are now a material operational risk in virtual desktop estates, and that rollback mechanisms, staged deployment, and rapid incident communication need to be part of standard Windows change management.
