The VMs Powering Mobile Agents (Instinct, Claude Code)
This article shows that AI agent products like Claude Code and Instinct are increasingly running inside vendor-managed microVMs and sandboxes rather than on end-user laptops, which makes agents mobile, persistent, and easier to scale across devices. For CIOs, the strategic implication is that agent adoption is becoming a platform and infrastructure decision: IT must account for where data, memory, authentication, and execution actually live, because control is shifting from the endpoint to the provider-operated runtime. That changes security, compliance, observability, and vendor-risk assumptions for enterprise deployment, especially when agent memory is stored separately from the compute that runs the session.
