Valve confirms it’s working with Intel and Nvidia on SteamOS for more GPUs
Valve is expanding SteamOS beyond AMD-based devices by actively collaborating with Intel and Nvidia to enable broader GPU compatibility across handheld and desktop platforms, with Intel support already in beta and Nvidia support expected beyond 2026. This strategic diversification reduces Valve's hardware dependency on a single chipmaker and positions SteamOS as a cross-platform gaming OS ecosystem, potentially disrupting traditional Windows-centric gaming hardware markets. For IT organizations, this signals emerging opportunities in Linux-based enterprise gaming infrastructure and the need to prepare support models for fragmented GPU driver landscapes across multiple vendors.
