The Deepfake Nudes Crisis in Schools Is Much Worse Than You Thought

Deepfake sexual abuse material (CSAM) created by students using AI "nudification" apps has affected over 600 students across 90 schools in at least 28 countries since 2023, with actual prevalence likely far higher based on surveys estimating 1.2 million children globally targeted. CIOs and school technology leaders must urgently develop comprehensive strategies addressing device monitoring, content filtering, incident response procedures, and victim support coordination, as most schools and law enforcement remain unprepared to handle these serious incidents.
